You deserve therapy that sees you fully—without code-switching or compromise.

Carrying the weight of your own struggles is hard enough — adding generational trauma, cultural expectations, racism, or code-switching can make it feel even heavier. You don’t have to do it all alone. Therapy can be a space to unpack what you’ve been carrying, with someone who sees the full picture. With a therapist of color, you can begin to work through the parts that feel too heavy to hold on your own:

Navigating the pressure to succeed while feeling unseen or unheard

Struggling with cultural expectations that clash with your needs

Feeling the emotional toll of racism and prejudice

Carrying generational trauma that still impacts your day-to-day

Wanting a safe space to just be without explaining your identity

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a BIPOC therapist?

A BIPOC therapist is a mental health professional who identifies as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color. These therapists bring not only clinical expertise but also cultural awareness and lived experience that can help clients feel more seen, understood, and supported.

At Modern Insight Therapy, we believe representation matters. Working with a BIPOC therapist can reduce the emotional labor of having to explain your identity or cultural context, and provide space for healing that’s rooted in shared understanding.

What is the BIPOC treatment?

“BIPOC treatment” typically refers to mental health care that is tailored to the lived experiences of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. This approach acknowledges the impact of systemic oppression, racism, generational trauma, and cultural identity on emotional well-being.

At Modern Insight Therapy, our clinicians provide culturally responsive, identity-affirming care. We recognize that healing looks different for everyone, especially for those navigating the intersection of race, gender, sexuality, and mental health. Our work is grounded in respect, empowerment, and justice.

How to support BIPOC mental health

Supporting BIPOC mental health means recognizing the systemic barriers and cultural stigma that often make accessing care difficult—and working to dismantle those obstacles. This can look like:

  • Normalizing therapy in BIPOC communities

  • Uplifting culturally responsive care

  • Investing in mental health resources for underserved groups

  • Listening to and believing BIPOC lived experiences

At Modern Insight Therapy, we’re committed to creating safe, affirming spaces for BIPOC clients to explore their mental health without shame or judgment. Support starts with access—and we’re here to make that access meaningful, compassionate, and empowering.
