Because you shouldn’t have to explain or justify your story to be supported.

Sex work comes with shifts, challenges, and moments of emotional weight. Maybe you’re navigating changing boundaries with clients or partners, experiencing burnout, processing stigma or judgment, or feeling disconnected from yourself. Maybe your relationship to the work is evolving, or you’re carrying feelings you don’t quite know how to name yet. Whatever you’re holding, it doesn’t mean something is wrong with you—it means you deserve space to reflect and be supported. Therapy can be a grounding place to unpack what’s coming up, explore your truth without shame, and move toward healing on your own terms. Together, we can talk through what feels heaviest right now, like:

Emotional exhaustion or compassion fatigue from work

Strained relationships with partners, friends, or family

Navigating stigma, secrecy, or double lives

Questions about identity, purpose, or boundaries

Feeling unseen, judged, or misunderstood—both in and out of work

Frequently Asked Questions

What does sex worker trauma look like?

Sex worker trauma can take many forms and doesn’t always come from the work itself—it may stem from stigma, social isolation, exploitation, violence, or lack of support. For some, trauma looks like hypervigilance, burnout, or emotional numbness; for others, it might show up as difficulty trusting others, feeling disconnected from their body, or carrying shame rooted in judgment from the outside world.

At Modern Insight Therapy, we hold space for the complexity of your experience. Whether your trauma is work-related or rooted in larger systems of oppression, you deserve care that’s free of shame, rooted in consent, and focused on healing on your terms.

What kind of therapist do I need for sex?

If you’re seeking therapy to explore sex, sexuality, or intimacy—especially within the context of sex work—it’s important to find a therapist who is affirming, nonjudgmental, and experienced in working with marginalized identities and experiences. That includes being comfortable talking about sex without shame and understanding the impact of societal stigma.

At Modern Insight Therapy, Pedro Segura-Moore specializes in sex-positive, trauma-informed care for individuals and couples, including those in the sex work community. Pedro brings deep cultural humility, lived experience, and a compassionate approach to navigating topics related to sex, identity, and emotional well-being.

What does a professional sex therapist do?

A professional sex therapist is trained to help individuals and couples navigate issues related to sex, intimacy, identity, relationships, and pleasure. They offer a nonjudgmental space to explore challenges such as low desire, shame, trauma, body image, relationship stress, or identity concerns. For sex workers, this might also include processing stigma, burnout, or emotional boundaries in their work and personal lives.

At Modern Insight Therapy, our sex-positive clinicians—including Pedro Segura-Moore—create a safe, affirming environment where you can talk openly about sex without fear of judgment or misunderstanding. Whether you’re navigating personal healing or simply seeking clarity and confidence, we’re here to support you.
